Welcome to ShanShui

“Be still like a mountain and move like the water in a river. Through practice, your legs will develop roots and you will be able to stand as still as a mountain.
One hand can turn into ten hands, ten hands into thousands, like water surging downstream in a river, it can wash away everything in its way”

Grand Master Tung Ying Jie, 1897-1961

Parc des Bruyères - Bois Colombes

Dear All,

hope that you are having a sunny summer and that all is going as planned for you.

Don't wait to see the pics of the end of the 2018/2019 season in the parc des Bruyères.
Thank you to all my students for this wonderful  2018/2019 year of practice.

For those who do not already know, the opening of my own dojo in les Vallées in Colombes in January 2020.
For me, lots of work, both positive and productive, progressing with the new dojo. The façade is completed.
Now we are working on the interior decoration, plans, choice of colours and materials,
as well as looking for the “centrepiece” of the decoration for our practice room which you have all so generously contributed to.
Thanks once again to all my students in Bois Colombes and in Paris, this room will be for all of you and all of new students.

I am leaving this Sunday 18th August,
for a week's retreat with Saki Santorelli “Meditation and Mindfulness” for my teacher's diploma (MBSR Mindfulness based stress reduction).

I am leaving for the States to be with Master Tung Chen Wei and GrandMaster Tung Kai Ying from 30th August to 25th September.

So, exceptionnally, this year, classes will only start up again at the beginning of October.

Happy solo practice. Have faith - just do it or get together in little groups.
Also take a look at the videos on the ShanShui website which will help you to improve.
Advanced students practise regularly in the parc des Bruyères, Saturdays and wednesday at 10 a.m.

Hoping  you all have a super summer & good practice

Dear All,

please take time out to sit down and discover the photo album of the May residential course

“Tai Chi Chuan”.

The Ardèche is still a very unspoilt region and the "Domaine du Taillé" is a magical place.

Although the weather was grey and windy when we arrived,

day by day the sun came out and the wind dropped.

We practised in the “Small inside Dojo” and also in the "Outdoor Dojo" facing the Ardèche hills.

This setting is wonderful for all of our types of practice : Tai Chi Chuan, Mindfulness, concentration, focus & the wonderment of nature and its impermanence.

This course provides the opportunity to get away from everyday preoccupations

through daily practice. Thereby intensity of practice is increased and

there is time to connect with world of sensations.

It is an excellent way to progress and optimise both one's mental and physical form.

Daily practice is organised to favour progress, different exercises, awareness,

proprioception and recuperation.

Practice may be static, dynamic, slow or fast, using push-hands or martial applications for 2,

arms as a group, for 2 or individually.

The intensity of progressive practice helps the organism to adapt because it is designed

and adapted so that all can follow.

A residential course also unifies the group because it is enjoyable to come together

for a common cause away from the everyday environment.

It is also an opportunity to give oneself time to recharge batteries, to practise in silence

and to get back to oneself.

It is also an occasion for me to transmit messages to each person and

help them to adopt good practice habits.

It is a ideal chance to learn how to recuperate and respect rest times.

The "Domaine du Taillé" is the ideal setting to rest, have a siesta, swim and sleep well.

Several studies have proved that a siesta improves perception, precision, motricity and endurance.

Sleep is indispensable to recuperate efficiently because it brings spontaneous muscular relaxation,

increased secretion of the growth hormone and regenerates the nervous system.

Going to the "Domaine du Taillé" is a choice :

to practise in an exceptional setting, far from home so as to be far from daily concerns,

to share accommodation or not, be it in a yourt, a chalet or in an individual or double room.

Also a choice to eat delicious nutritionally balanced meals at each sitting.

There is pleasure for the eyes in this fantastic setting, in the presentation of each dish on tables decked with flowers

It is also the pleasure of being welcomed by Jean and his caring crew.

So, rendez-vous for the next residential course in Spring 2020 !

Please contact me about a new Beginners/Intermediary level

intensive course also.

Bravo to all of you who came to the course this year.

More informations

Dear all,

I hope you're on top form.
I come back from the Alps with a new video, for the website.
Following the request of my students here are the vidéo of the Taiji Gong or Tai Chi Gong or Tai Chi Kung !

The Tai Chi Gongs were created by  Grand Master Tung Kai Ying in homage to his Father, Grand Grand Master Tung Hu Ling.

The Tai Chi Gongs are a chain of nine movements derived from the slow chain, called the Form, which are practised in a static position with legs bent.
It can also be practised in a erect stance and used as a warm-up or a learning exercise.
This exercise allows beginners to understand that the movement come from the waist, to develop a firm stance, verticality, the feeling of a circle and the circulation of energy, and helps to memorise Tai Chi Chuan.
After practising Tai Chi Gong, you feel more firmly « rooted » in the ground, legs feel stronger, the spine elongated and the back is naturally straight without effort.
The body is relaxed, the circulation is stimulated and the rib cage is opened up. Regular practice greatly strengthens the legs and one can go lower and slower in the slow Form and so increase the pleasure of the practice.

I wish good practice to all my students and to all Tai Chi friends visitors of the  site !

See you soon, practice again march 12 !

All the best
